I will be moving to Charlotte from Chicago in Jan next year and going to work at Bank of America in uptown (101 N Tryon St). Does anyone know the best places to rent an apartment (budget $800) in < 20 min commute? Also does anyone know which part of the Charlotte most Asian Indian communities reside?

Thank you for your help.

Hi! and welcome from a native Chicagoan that lives here now.
Charlotte is very different from Chicago in that people don't reside in ethnic communities here, they are spread out all over the city. However, that being said, I do believe many Asian Indians are up in the University area. There are many apartments to choose from there and they would be a short drive to a park-n-ride to take an express bus downtown. You commute would probably be more than 20 minutes, however. Going further north as many may suggest will add to your commute time.

I live in the university area and I love it. All of the stores/restaurants of suburban Chicago are here.

Camden Pinehurst. It's about 15 minute commute. But there aren't really any shops walking distance if you needed that. But lots of Indians live there.

Century Parkside which is about a 10 minute commute to uptown and lots of Indians there too.
