Never been one to hang out, but my brother is in town.....
Anyone have any suggestions? Likes? Dislikes?
Just some place to have a "few"

You might want to narrow that down a bit!
What side of town are you on? Do you want a dive, a fern bar... food, or no food?
I enjoy hanging with my friends at Zada Jane's, in Plaza-Midwood. It's more of a restaurant, but their bar is a cool place to sit for a while. I always see people I know!

Zada's is cool, but the service there is lousy everytime I've been.
Thomas Street Tavern, the Penguin, and on warmer nights, Common Market, are all right across the street from there and all great.

There's a cool new bar that just opened up in downtown Mooresville - The Bathtub Gin - you might want to check it out if you are up that way - good vibe

If you go to the yellow pages.com it will give you 72 items under 'taverns'. Interestingly enough though, for Milwaukee (a similarly sized city) there are 1122.

Seems you got the number mixed up a bit. What I found on the same yellow pages. com were:
Bars: Milwaukee 622, Charlotte 288
Wine Bars: Milwaukee 5, Charlotte 11
Night Clubs: Milwaukee 56, Charlotte 71
I am sure since Charlotte has grown so much and continues to do so, the Charlotte number is likely to be much higher than posted.
