I've been looking to buy a patio heater (propane) and a couple of the local stores have sold out. Has anyone recently bought one that they like that is reasonably priced or a bad experience w/brands to stay away from? It seems you can spend anywhere from $200-600 on these units. Thanks

We looked at several models and thought we had found a good deal for under $300, but it turned out to be mostly PLASTIC if you can fathom that. So just be sure to get specs on the materials.

We didn't buy one b/c we wanted to keep it under $350 and couldn't find anything that excited us at that price point. So promise if you do find something (especially on sale!!!) that you will come back and let us know! (Think I will do another search, too, while I am thinking about it).

When we lived in Kansas City, several of our favorite restaurants had them outside - where we could be sitting with snow around us (or when it was snowing!) and still stay somewhat warm. I like cold weather so it was great for me. Also - ski lodges often have them. We would really enjoy expanding our space in the winter. The type I have been around in the past were large and probably quite expensive, but I was hoping the prices have gotten more reasonable.

GOOD LUCK - and let us know!

Just wanted to let you know . . . I did a search and had never thought of looking at Sears. They have stainless steel ones.

I may just order that one or one similar.

Costco has 2 stainless steel ones (made by Nexgrill Industries) which is a Chinese mfr. They are on sale (until 1/31) online 40,000BTUs at $199.99, 42,000 BTUs at $179.99. It looks like there is no shipping charge. I called 2 local stores and they both have 42,000 BTU one (Nexgrill) for $289.99. The online looks good (on paper) and I might just take the chance and buy online. It's good they are stainless steel for corrosion and have wheels for moving. I'm always suspect for Chinese made but I was reading reviews and they are pretty good and Costco seems to stand behind the product (refund) with defect issues where mfr. dragged their feet on service.

Thanx for the info, ZnGuy! That is in my price range and I agree - stainless is what I wanted and the wheels make it about perfect!

In CA we ordered pieces online that matched a vanity cabinet we had bought in the store and two of the pieces were damaged and we were able to return them back to the store instead of shipping them back, so that's definately a plus.
