I grew up in Charlotte and my parents are long time friends with Phil Aull, who is considered by many to be the 'master' of photo portraits in Charlotte, so I had my bridal portrait done with him (fantastic if you want a really traditional studio portrait).
For our wedding we used one of Phil's associates, as he only does studio work now, and Joanna was fantastic (
www.joannadehartphotography.com). I agree with what others have said, that wedding photography is challenging and takes the right kind of photographer. Joanna worked with her husband, Marty, who shot more informal black and white photographs while Joanna was doing the main photography. It was great because while we got the formal photos and traditional poses, we also got a great almost behind the scenes, journalistic record as well.
