Anyone have any recommendations for an air duct cleaning company in Charlotte? I've been having major nighttime allergies. Does anyone also know if air duct cleaning can help?

They say it can. When we first moved into our house the air coming out of the downstairs ducts smelled like body odor. I was really afraid of the chemicals companies use (b/c I'm sensitive to chemicals) so I hired a company recommended by by HVAC co. They said while it was very unusual to do it w/o the chemicals & amy not work they'd do it anyway at my insistence. It helped a bit, but not enough, so I called them back 2 weeks later to re-do (which they only charged a fraction). My house smelled funny but for only a few days & it was bearable. That did the job & no more b.o. smell. The company is http://www.cleanairofcharlotte.com/

I read recently in consumer reports magazine that it had minimal effect on allergy sufferers.

Default Duct Cleaning / Allergies

I had the same problem a few years ago. My wife and two of my children have terrible allergies. I did some research and found that duct cleaning (if performed properly) can reduce allergy symptoms as well as improve the efficiency and performance of your heating/cooling system. I searched Angie's List for duct cleaning services a Moderator cut: tos violation . I had all my ducts cleaned and added a filtration system ("Pure Air" by Lennox) and the allergies have not been an issue. The cost was very reasonable based on the results we got. Beware of the companies that advertise the extremely low prices on duct cleaning because they are usually nothing more than carpet cleaners with an expensive vacuum cleaner. When it comes to indoor air quality I rely on an HVAC professional.
