Creative loafing has a great and honest article concerning the Charlotte Chamber of Commerce and the business market. Tara really hit the mark on this article!!!!

Interesting Article, but what is the point of all your posts? I love hearing both sides of the story, but your posts are always slanted to be negative. I know things aren't perfect here in Charlotte, but why don't you actually do anything to help improve the situation? It is too bad you don't like Charlotte, but if you think you are informing the rest of the pluses vs. the minuses of the area, you are giving yourself too much credit. Iti s hard to take such posts seriously when they come from somebody with nay a positive thing to say.

Oh well, I guess we should all move to Detroit since CHarlotte is so obviously in the pot according to you.

Actually I do like Charlotte. I do not agree with the way it is being overbuilt and pumped (PR'ed) by the some of the press, realtors and developers. I have business interests here and believe that it is a good place to live but not without some sense of planning. At one point in time, probably before you moved here, Charlotte advertised itself as a planned city of the future. Well everyone can look around and see that was not true or we would have roads that are adequate and in good shape, sewers that flowed treated sewage and schools of approriate size to house and teach children. What the planning has lead to is over built developments with postage stamp sized yards, strip malls that are half empty, loads of empty commercial real estate, infrastucture that is sorely lacking, a private corporate handout to the uptown developers (bobcats stadium, light rail failure, Nascar musuem and maybe a baseball park), soaring crime and a huge illegal problem. If you think that my post are not being read and that I am not doing anything to help the problem well I think you are wrong. I am passing along relavent information and as an IT professional you should understand how information is shared on the web. The article above proves that others have the same view of Charlotte and it smoke and mirrors PR job. And as you know Creative loafing is a popular newspaper and website!

Complaining on an internet forum is not exactly taking action to instigate change but hey, whatever dude.
