He could probably spend a few hours at Speed Street! Lots of people, food vendors, give-aways, and free concerts:

Speed Street,
Go for a hike on Crowder's Mountain (I may do that Monday),
Go to Jetton Park on the lake for a bike ride (they have bike rental) or a jog/walk and then eat a packed lunch or something from the park snack bar overlooking the lake,
Freedom Park and the same activities listed above,
Drive up to one of the wineries (Shelton is only like an hour and 15 min up 77 and it is beautiful!),
Walk through Mint Museum and pack a lunch to eat on the beautiful grounds,

Baseball game in Ft. Mill just south of Charlotte. Fireworks tonight and Monday night afterwards. For wineries, I like Dennis Vineyards in Albemarle. Discovery Place, Levine Museum of the New South are good options, but uptown is crowded through today with Speed Street. Ann Springs Close Greenway also in Fort Mill. Carolina Raptor Center and Latta Plantation in the n. Charlotte area. There is a lot to do around here, but not all are so well publicized. Visit Charlotte Chamber for more to do.

OH YES groove! I forgot about the Knights game! We were going to go last night, but no one wanted to drive down there with all the holiday traffic; so my gang o' friends and I had a wonderful cookout instead and enjoyed some wine and conversation....maybe I can get some people together for tonight's game instead....thanks for the idea!!

I don't think traffic will be too bad tonight going that direction. I drove from Rock Hill to Charlotte this morning though and the SC troopers were out in full force.

We're going to the races tonight (no, not at LMS). Either to Concord Motorsports Park or Bowman Gray Stadium. Haven't quite decided yet.
