My fiancé and I will be moving to this area after graduation this spring. We have a limit of 200k but would like to try and stay under 150k. We would like to be within 30 min of the city. We are hoping to get pointed in the right direction as we would like to live in a nice community, we especially like a small town feel. A townhouse would be perfect for us to start our lives in. Schools are a big deal as she will be an elementary school teacher and we would like to start our family soon. Please let me know where you think would be a good area for us to look into. Thanks in advance.

Plan to spend at least $175,000 and you'll have lots of choices
I would suggest you look at Cabarrus County, next door to Charlotte basically. It would be a good school system for your wife to get started in (much smaller than Charlotte's), plus you can find the kind of community you are looking for. I'd say to give Harrisburg and Concord a look for sure.

You should look into Sedona at Stone Creek Ranch, which is very close to schools.

Depending on where you will be working, there are some very nice inner suburbs in Gaston County.

How about a job for you? What will you be looking for? There are schools everywhere for her. Unemployment is fairly high in the Carolinas; better get the jobs, then look for the housing. Good luck.

I will have a degree in Buisness Administration and I am not sure exactly what I want to do, thinking about starting in Accounting. Hopefully I will have options, but definantly figure it out before the move.

My husband and I looked at Wendover Townhomes in Stallings. They are absolutely gorgeous and right around your price range. Best of luck!
