near the intersection of prosperity church and mallard creek. actually just slightly west of that intersection, by the new mexican place.

in my 2 years of being here (yesterday was my 2 yr anniversary!) that is by far the most dangerous intersection I've seen....been plenty of accidents in that time.

anywho, don't know if they've cleared it by now, but stay away if u can.

That intersection is an absolute joke.

Coincidently, I emailed the Charlotte DOT just 2 weeks ago w/regards to possible changes that could (and should) be made to this intersection.......here was their response,

"In March of 2008, CDOT concluded that this intersection is not considered “unsafe”. Although there have been some accidents, they aren’t severe enough or a high enough number of them for our Safety section to deem the intersection as unsafe and implement any changes."

In other words, come back to us with a dead body and we'll talk...

I drive through that intersection on a daily basis, as does my DW. I dont think it unsafe, as long as people are adhering to the color of the lights they are approaching.

Now, if you want to talk unsafe instersections, lets talk about Mallard Creek Church and 85S. Saw 2 serious wrecks there, on back to back days, last week.

ETA:
Sorry, I misunderstood the intersection. If you're refering to the intersection coming out of the Food Lion, I would agree that it is dangerous. However, not nearly as much so since they prohibited westbound traffic from turning left/U turning.

I walk around that loop on a daily basis and have almost been hit on countless occasions from drivers who continue to make that illegal left-hand turn. Obeying the law is an inconvenience for some people.

Most of the problems that occur now aren't caused by drivers on Prosperity Ch Rd, it's from drivers who are trying to make left-hand turns from Food Lion and Driwood Ct - some try and comeout halfway and wait for an opening, but fail to realize that the back half of their car is still hanging-out in the middle of the lane with on-coming traffic.

A series of "right-turn only" signs would solve a good portion of the problems.

megax, can't say for sure, but I know I usually come from the mexican restaurant side of prosperity, and am generally making a left onto prosperity, and it is very, very difficult to see cars coming from the right, from the actual intersection of prosp church and mallard creek. very difficult to tell where these cars were coming from and going to, as they are all turned in different directions, but it was clearly closer to the restaurant side street (I should get the name for you guys) than it was to food lion.
guess the most important thing is, hope everyone is alright. but that spot is wicked dangerous.

ok, so this is strange. do a google map search for donatos pizza 28269.
driwood ct, to the left of the pizza place, is what I'm talking about, but clearly google maps is just a bit behind, as from this pic u can't even get onto prosp ch from there, but it's been open since I've been here (2 years). that's bizarre.

Yes - there's a rise in the road as you look towards the Mallard Creek Ch intersection, so it makes a bad situation even worse.

Maps simply haven't been updated - the Bank of America, Dunkin Donuts etc haven't been built yet, according to the map. It wasn't until those businesses had gone in that Driwood Court even opened-up to Prosperity Church Rd.

Are we talking about this intersection?

I've never noticed anything particularly odd or dangerous about it...and I drive through from all directions several times a week. What is everyone thinking is dangerous?
