From what I've seen, Google is planning on testing their new high speed broadband technology here in the United States. This technology promises speeds up to 100 times faster than current broadband technology. At these speeds, new opportunities will be available that would be impossible with current data transfer rates. Google plans on performing trials on a select number of cities in the U.S. I think it would be great if we could get Charlotte to be chosen as one of these cities! Below is the official website where you can learn more and promote Charlotte as one of the cities that they may perhaps choose. Tell everyone in the area that you know and contact your local officials! Apparently the selection process will end March 26th, but looks like we have a few weeks for us to promote. Thanks everyone! Here's to hoping!

What does force have to do with them wrongly passing information? I guess if I don't use them, then I can't say anything. HAHA. Joke!

Google is starting to put all of Charlotte in HD on their street view maps so that is a good sign. Here are a few pics.

That is really cool. I am looking at buying a house, and Google street view is a great way to see how close the houses are in a neighborhood and also the houses around the house I am looking at. I also use it to make sure its not next to an undesirable part of the neighborhood. It has been updated since the satellite view, a lot of those show dirt lots if anything at all.

Hey everyone!
I have created a Facebook group rallying support for this idea. Should you have a Facebook account, you can join the group here:
Bring Google Fiber to Charlotte! | Facebook (//www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=481966045262&ref=ts - broken link)
Invite all your Charlotte Metro friends and lets get the word out! The group is only a day old, hence the low membership, although I did sent invites to about 70 people. Not sure why they didn't join. However, in the 6 Degrees of Separation theory, if everyone invites everyone else they know, membership should grow fairly quickly.
Make sure to mention on the wall or something that you were referred to the group by this City-Data thread. It will let me know whether it was effective or not.
