If you have a hankering for fish and chips you will have to go somewhere else for a while.

I am very sorry about this terrible news. I was there Friday night about 36 hours before the fire and as usual my girlfriend and I had a great time. I even took a photo of the restaurant and the red phone booth outside and these may be the last photos taken of Big Bens before the fire. We are very sad and hope that the owner will report progress on rebuilding at their website. And our best wishes to Matt who always was the best waiter. I hope we didn't give him too much of a hard time and hope that we will see him again.

Fire was in the early morning hours...very strange...and sad...rubber-necking and firetrucks blocked a lot of Sunday morning church trafffic. The devastation was stunning to see.
