This quote almost says it all. Charlotte has that .......Sparkle... that alot of people are looking for and when you put both cities next to each other. they Charlotte is the hands down winner. (To Me) The triangle area seems soo run down and lacking, where Charlotte is clean, vibrant, friendly, and located perfectly. Inland enough from any MAJOR damage from a hurricane and tucked nicely behind the mountains as to not get any SERIOUSLY harsh winters. And to to mention ////NASCAR
NASCAR: Non Athletic Sport Centered Around rednecks....before anyone gets in a hissy, its just a joke
Here's a viewpoint from someone who's been a NC native most of his life of 23 years. So I can't attest to the family aspects of either region really well.
But
I graduated from UNCC, but I did a couple of internships in the Triangle Area. I lived in Morrisville which is right outside cary and about 15 minutes from Raleigh and Durham. I was there for about a year and I must say I love Charlotte even more.
Charlotte is a lot more active. The bar districts are centralized where bars help out other bars. I didn't see a lot of this in raleigh, other than hillsboro st. I also like the idea that Charlotte's uptown is very centralized and everything you need is within a 10 minute drive, and not a 30-60 minute drive around 440. I also like to walk. In uptown I can walk anywhere I want to go, and there are plenty of entertainment spots you can walk to, minus a movie theater (). Same way in the University Area, although it is a little more spread out. Raleigh on the other hand, I always had to drive to get somewhere, but I suspect this was mostly be cause i lived in BFE morrisville on Davis Dr.
Generally if I am bored in Charlotte it is because I am lazy, not because there isn't anything going on. In Raleigh, I had a little more trouble finding things to do.
As much as I hate to say it, the Charlotte traffic is also better than in the triangle at rush hour. Leaving uptown, I can get to North Charlotte in 20 minutes at 5pm.
Please feel free to point out my ignorance and bias against the triangle area, I've fallen in love with Charlotte.
Location: Sunny Phoenix Arizona...wishing for a beach.

I don't know about anyone else but I got the bored vibe in Raleigh immediately and everytime I drive through. The only plus that area has over Charlotte (FOR ME) is, it's closer to the beaches, but I'll take the extra drive.
