Borders does have a few. I have purchased them there before. Still, check with Alliance Francaise here about it, or International House here in Elizabeth.

I thought the Alliance Franciase of Charlotte is still without a "maison" of their own. Other AF's have the library, language center, and cultural events, "inhouse". Someone needs to donate one of those old homes in Elizabeth or Dilworth so the AF Charlotte can have centralized place to hold all of their programs in a centralized location like The International House. Speaking of the IHclt it does have a fair selection of magazines and periodicals of different countries. If your looking for something specific it can become hard to find but never impossible. Sometimes the Pfeiffer Book Store(part of Pfeiffer University) pleasantly surprises me with some of their French periodicals. Worth checkin out as well.
