We orderd 9 ft. ceilings for the 1st floor and our bay bump out window in the kitchen (which was another big price tag upgrade) has 8 ft. ceilings! what? aghh! I am so annoyed. Not one person from the studio or the contruction team is taking the blame for it and they aren't sure they can fix it. They keep blaming it on each other..it is like dealing with first graders!

The kicker is the vp of the studio says that she doesn't have the plans in front of her when she helped do our options even though she reworked the lighting for me and insured me that a fan would fit by the bay window we paid to have a fan put in and now if we did put the fan it the blades would hit the 8 ft. wall!

We are so pissed right now and we are suppose to close in three weeks.

Not sure if this is true or not but I think 8ft ceilings in the bay window may be standard for most home builders. Not sure if this is the case but if so someone should have atleast informed you about it. I have a bay window in my living room and we have 9ft ceilings and the small ceiling portion inside the bump of our bay window is 8ft, and my builder does 9ft ceilings standard. Never thought about it until I read your thread. I actually pulled up pics of the house to see if mine were 8 or 9ft. It sucks that this may be common practice for KB and they just did not mention it to you, but if it is common practice it just may not have dawned on them.

I have the bay windows with the slider and 9ft ceilings and it looks like it will 8ft. So maybe its standard.

I have a kb and my bay is the same. What really ticked me off about it is that in my case they dropped the windows on the angled walls so there is just a double window in the middle. I found another house in the community that closed awhile before I did and it had all the windows a "bay window" should have.

Wow- it doesn't look bad from the pictures, but if you're expecting one thing and get another that's alarming.
I'm paying for the 9ft ceiling and the bump out too- but it is with a slider.
Now I will mark my options list to question the studio about the ceiling ht for both so it is on record.
Let us know what happens....

Default bay

Neoflex you bay looks nice but picture it in the back of your hosue with in a kitchen. Our back wall is like twice the size of that. It looks cozy in a living room but totally dumb in the kitchen.

The big problem has to do with the additional lighting and they way we configured it to fit the fan.

So the latest update..my realtor and the buidler are meeting tomorrow. I just hope that the fan fits!!!

If they screwed up you are in good position to get what you want. Either money off or something else. But the ball is in your court
