My fiancee and I are considering moving to NC. However, we are not sure how accepting the state/ city of Charlotte is of mixed couples. I am black and he is white. I am hesitant about moving there because it is the South. He has visited there several times and loves the area. He was alone when he visited though and is not sure if people will react when I'm with him. We are a young couple and want to settle in a nice place, where people don't stop and stare or make comments because of our racial difference.
Any help would be appreciated! Thanks

You will be fine - REALLY. The majority of people here don't really care about that and those that do don't live so much in the city as out in more rural counties. Please don't let this stop you from coming to a great state and city
Location: Some got six month some got one solid. But me and my buddies all got lifetime here

Given that I'm in a white/white marriage, I couldn't give you an honest opinion since I'm not around interracial couples morning, noon and night to see what they may (or may not) go through. That answer is truly best left for interracial couples to answer themselves. My posts on race and prejudice on this forum were based just on what I've seen/heard and what my buddy has seen/heard.
Yep lots of interracial couples here. I've noticed Charlotte is a HUGE melting pot. My primary care physician is Chinese & my dentist is from India. It seems at times that as a caucasian *I* am the minority here I love it!
Its the south...people will make comments. Probably not directly to your face but people will look at you strange not so much in the city as much as they will outside the city. I could lie and say nobody will but alot of southerners look down on this type of thing.
It's actually pretty common here and I have a lot of friends who have significant others of a different race and they don't usually experience any problems. One of my white female coworkers in Buffalo had a fiance that was half black and they ran into a lot more problems. They even got harassed and beat up at a Bills game. I haven't heard of anything like that happening in here in the 6 years I've been here and none of my interacial couples friends have experienced it either.
Isn't this like the 80th thread on this subject?
Just sayin'.
