My two friends who moved here from India over 20 years ago tell me there are no real Indian communities here. One lives in Kannapolis and the other lives in the University area.

The University area does sound like your your best option.

You can find a 2 bedroom apt there in the $600-750. range. Do not expect to find a house in a desirable, safe area for under $850 anywhere in Charlotte in general.

I would look for apartments around the Mallard Creek Rd area - just don't go within walking distance of the University itself and you'll be fine.

One good possibility for you is Colonial Grand at Legacy Park - google them for exact location and phone number.

There are a lot of Indian Communities in Charlotte. Maybe not as many as there are in Atlanta, but there are a lot in Charlotte.

I am aware that many Indians do indeed live in Charlotte - but kind of all over the city.

Do you know of any particular communities you can name for our OP?

You may want to check with your recruiter or your manager at BofA. There are many Indian associates working in Uptown Charlotte @ BofA, and they could probably steer you in the correct direction.

Depending on the size of your apartment, you could get a 1 bdr in that price point. You might have to go a little over 800 for a 2bdr.

Century Parkside has TONS of indians there. The bus is right outside the apartment complex and it's a 10 minute commute to BofA. One of my friend's takes the bus from there and said there's around 30+ Indians who take the bus from there. Literally the whole bus is filled lol.

The downside though is the location is a little sketchy. The apartment is gated and the gates only allow one car at a time which is good. But imo, the apartments are rundown and don't look that clean inside. Though my husband was ok with it (we have different standards lol). I also felt it was overpriced considering the condition of the property (exterior and interior). Plus those pictures on their website imo are a little deceptive.

Camden Pinehurst has a lot of Indians, but I think it's a little more expensive. The location is much nicer and there is a bus right outside the apartment complex for a quick 15 minute commute to uptown.

You can drive quickly to uptown from both of these locations too, but then you have to deal with parking in uptown.

Default indians in charlotte

hi jain,
i think you meant asian indians
judging by your name "jain"---- i havent met a lot of jains.

but as for indians, there are plenty. as mentioned earlier not as many as in atlanta or DC. most of them here live in university area or the south charlotte. kannapolis is a little away from BofA and most people stay closer.

as for BofA there are many indians working there but less than before the financial crisis. talk to your colleagues for advice. if you could let us know from where you are moving from, some of us here could give you a insight into charlotte from your city perspective

ultimately the recommedations will be based on your family and your needs. everyone's situation is unique. there is a lot of info on this site. if you spend enough time all your questions have answers here most of them tucked in previous questions.

ofcourse there are experienced folks here that will be able to answer your questions
