Need that extra capital to get a good home in Ballentine Country Club, Bridgehampton, etc. I jusdt want a glass of sweet tea on my small deck on a nice afternoon in late September. Maybe hit the various campuses to watch basketball games etc. The simple life! No need for much more. I might even purchase a Saturn as oppossed to a luxury car. I love how Larry David does it on Curb your Enthusiaum (sp).

Just saw the movie "Company Men"...downsizing isn't a bad idea
If location is not an option there are some very nice places as you look at a map and look in NC. Wake Forest (great college area, but not like the typical college- it's beautiful and liveable), RTP (great golf), Asheville (georgous mountains and kinda a nice hippie feel), a few real nice choices, in addition to Charlotte if you can work from everywhere and just need access to an airport.
Oh I have a feeling you're not going to run out of homes and great deals to buy down here
