My wife and I are thinking about moving to the Charlotte area maybe around this time next year. We both grew up in the suburbs of Cleveland Ohio and just recently moved out to Glendale Arizona. It was a big adventurous move 2,300 miles west of what we were used to. The traffic is horrible! I know I read people complaining about the traffic problems in Charlotte but I can't imagine it comes close to the situation here in Glendale/Phoenix. The home prices are just plain stupid! A 2 bedroom 2 bath, 900 square foot home for $249,000 with a 25-35mile each way commute and it's still considered a "STARTER HOME". A nasty brown cloud of pollution that lurks over the valley almost everyday. Now to the point, I work for US Airways even though when I started it was America West and I know that Charlotte is a major hub so I would think transferring shouldn't be an issue. We are looking for a city with the growth potential of Phoenix as far as the realty market is concerened but with the green and four seasoned climate that Cleveland has. Is Charlotte that city? We are considering Huntersville and the Lake Norman area. My wife is a Speech Language Pathologist and would be seeking work in the school systems. I hope this makes some sense?.

When our newest neighbors moved in (they relocated from Orlando), they invited us over to their new house for a housewarming party. We met their uncle and aunt. He (the uncle) was born and raised in Cleveland and, upon his retirement, chose to move to Matthews. He said that he pretty much hated Cleveland and wouldn't go back even if you paid him, and that they both liked the Charlotte area much better. I know many of the folks around us are from various places in Ohio, so I guess they all like it.

I had family in Mesa, AZ and I can assure you traffic is just as wild here.
The way to do it is to learn the back roads and find shortcuts which really can be lifesavers...

Charlotte is green. Not like it was a dozen years ago, but still lush and very well landscaped. We did(?) have 4 seasons but over the past few years winter has dwindled (we all know why) and I think we are generally all about one planting zone closer now to Florida. As a native, I actually remember two or three significant snows per year, but now its rare.

People are really great here. Very diverse groups and lots of things going on.

I used to travel to Cleveland a lot on business. I like Valley City a lot, but Charlotte totally trumps the parts of Cleveland I've seen (I'm admittedly totally ignorant on the whole of the Cleveland..)

Come down - check out things and see what you think!!
