My MT threw out her back and will be out of commission for awhile, so I am looking for another. Would like to find someone who can do deep work, very strong, and goes beyond the technical, i.e., can really feel what is going on in the muscles and tissues and work with it. Hoping to find someone around Lake Wylie area, or south-east side of Gaston County, I could even go as far as the Steele Creek area. Recommendations? Thanks!

Thank you! I go to CPCC Main Campus occasionally, and this wouldn't be too far away. Will give her a call.

Nope, I haven't, but I've been to a CrossFit session there and talked with Cory (head CrossFit guy and their massage therapist) a bunch on email. He's been very helpful and considerate at every turn, and seems to be VERY knowledgeable about functional fitness and musculoskeletal concerns. All things that lead me to believe he is good at his massage therapy job.
Plus, he's pretty damn strong, so the deep tissue work shouldn't be a problem. Good luck!
