That's a tough one. Personally, I think it's wrong to censor anything on the internet, but when I was teaching I had to sign a document stating that I wouldn't identify my school, parents, children in my class, etc on any social network or blog. I can understand where a school or business is coming from on this. Not only does it protect privacy, but it also protects the business's image.
I think they were probably going overboard by firing her, but I imagine they are trying to set an example. I feel for her, though. Crappy tables/tippers can ruin your night, and venting is important!
I think she had every right to vent on Facebook BUT she never should have used the restaurants name and I am not sure if she used the couple's name.
She should have said I waited on a couple at work today and this is what happened...nothing wrong with that. IMO

Same way it is on this forum Ill let people consumer complain but they cant
mention the company name or location
She was in the wrong. You can't b*tch about your customers in a public forum. That gives the company a bad name, whether she was justified in feeling that way or not. Way before there was a thing called the Internet, if you complained about customers in a newspaper article or some other public forum they would have probably fired you for that too. There have long been company policies that have said what you do on your free time can get you fired. It is just that now they can more easily track what you do.
Bottom line is if you want to vent make sure to do it somewhere this is no chance of it being tracked back to you. There are plenty of web sites where you can gripe about stuff anonymously. Stuff written on the Internet is forever.
I had a mixed reaction to this one, but I tend to lean towards overkill by Brixx. Based on the quoted post in another article about this, she didn't identify any particular patron(s), and everyone knows that not all patrons are pleasant or enjoyable. It seems a little overboard that you can't express frustration about your job. IMHO opinion, that didn't reflect badly on Brixx, just on unpleasant customers in general.
