Seems the paper has already come to a conclusion on this story (gonna do a story on problem towing) before asking anyone their experience. Now it's just a matter of trolling the internet to look for any facts to back it up. This is what tabloids do, not newspapers that are present themselves as being staffed by journalists and responsible editors.

Seems as if you've already reached a conclusion about the yet-to-be published article. It's just as likely that some people have reported unethical towing businesses, and the reporter is looking for additional information first. If I recall, there were incidents in recent years in which cars were towed under shady circumstances (from an Uptown coffee shop?).
Here's a entertaining story about a tow-truck victim(?) who fights back, and is now being sued!

I'm going by what was posted in OP. It said "looks like they are going to do a story on Problem Towing". So if they have decided to do a story, why is there a need for further investigation? Either they have the relevant facts or they don't.
I am a stickler for rules and normally I would agree -I think when people park in places that are clearly marked 'NO TOWING' they should be towed BUT there have been too many cases of towing companies not abiding by the law.
About a year ago I posted about a company (Digital Towing) that was booting/towing cars at the NC license plate office. It was determined that the signs that were posted on the property telling people not to park or they would be towed were posted in violation of the city ordinance. Digital Towing was eventually ordered to stop booting cars at the NC license plate office. Anyone that thinks it was acceptable for Digital Towing to boot those cars did not see the tiny signs and where they were posted. I was there and observed first hand what Digital Towing did.
Oldsmobile - it will be interesting to see what happens with that lawsuit. Apparently that towing company in Kalamazoo has lost quite a bit of business!
