Citco Fund Services will be bringing a few hundred financial services jobs to Charlotte. Average pay is over $78k/year plus benefits. Their office will be located in uptown near the Epicentre. Here's a link to their job site: Citco Careers (http://www.citco.com/Careers_Main.jsp - broken link)

This is good news on several fronts. These jobs are fairly different from the types of financial services back office jobs here now. So it opens up the prospect for the city broadening its appeal to other financial services operations. And the fact that they are taking office space Uptown is also very encouraging.

Wow, 78k avg a year is really high, not sure what's the general salary for a similar job in Charlotte, I work for them in SF, and I'm only in the 60s. Can't really imagine them paying higher salary once you adjust COL...if that's the case, then I'm transferring!!!

You might want to do some salary research and maybe think about approaching your company about a raise. $60K a year is a very low salary for the Bay area considering the company you work for. My guess is you have peers who make an awful lot more. I once worked for a company and didn't know until I left that my pay was only about 70% of what everyone else was making. I don't know what you do, but I know personally if I moved to the Bay I'd have to make a hell of a lot more than $60K a year to maintain my present lifestyle here in Charlotte. I'm assuming by SF you mean San Francisco? Even if you mean South Florida the cost of living down there is still much more than Charlotte.

I'm in San Francisco, and after thinking about what you told me...I kinda felt like I've been kicked in the balls the past two years!!! Dealing with douches daily is just not worth it..guess I'll just move back to FL instead
