You can have that opinion of course. I was just curious because there aren't that many discussions about Charlottesville here and if there are it's mostly people who enjoy living there. I've never visited but I hope to soon to see if it's someplace I could envision myself moving to in the near future. I like hearing about all aspects, good and bad.

Charlottesville is pretty & we've been in the area for 5 yrs. However, I would say that most Charlottesvillians are pretty impressed w/ themselves & are willing to pay stupid high prices to prove it. We've been in the military & have lived all over the U.S. It's nice here & but it isn't nice enough to justify the exorbitant taxes, cost of living, traffic & general rudeness. There's a lot of "keeping up w/ the Jeffersons" going on. It's become a little NoVA (northern VA).

Cool.

Yeah, again, I think the city is very nice, but I can't stand the university aspect of it. I finish grad school here in May, and I can't wait. That's my biggest gripe, I think, and the main reason why I could never live here for good.

Anything else you want to know (as far as my opinions go and otherwise), feel free to ask.

For the most part, I think I'd agree with you. I'm willing to bet, though, that a lot of what you're seeing is being done by rich/semi-rich college kids and their parents. Like any other city, Charlottesville has some have-nots.

Now that I agree with. Of course it's no D.C. or NYC, but the traffic here kind of stinks. Not to mention that not a single bicyclist bothers with obeying traffic laws, so that increases the danger.
