I am planning on moving to charlottesville just before christmas. I will be working for UVa - beginning of next year. can anyone suggest decent places to live in charlottesville? did some search on brac.com. some are either too pricey are too small. Its going to be just me and my wife. I am not a student. Please suggest. Thanks in advance.

When we visited over the summer, we looked @ neighborhoods around Western Albermale High School. Very lovely neighborhoods; lovely rural feel. The commute would have been only 10 miles to the UVA Med Ctr.
Yes, I found it pretty pricey but it's beautiful country. Congratulations and Best of Luck @ UVA.

When I was a graduate student I lived at Carriage Hill behind the Rivanna Shopping Center in the Pantops mountain area (Exit 128 off I-64). I lived above my own garage so there was no one above or below me, and I had tons of storage space. Back in 2004 the rent for my apartment (2 BR/2 BA, large laundry room, large master bath, balcony, garage, plus storage) was $1150/mo. I looked at a lot of places and this was a really good deal considering the amenities. I also enjoyed living close to the shopping center which has a Giant, Blockbuster, Sticks, and Starbucks. It's an easy 10-min drive from UVA. Good luck!
