We are looking for neighborhood or area suggestions for Chattanooga. My husband will be driving to Atlanta once or twice a week and I hope to work at Erlanger. We are empty nesters in our early 50's. We are looking for a newer neighborhood ideally with larger lots and lake and tennis courts. We are thinking around 300,000-500,000 range. We need to stay within the TN border.
I would really appreciate any suggestions so we can narrow our search. Thanks!

For newer construction you might look at Hidden Lakes and Emerald Valley although I don't think they have tennis courts. I could be mistaken though. Also Windstone may have something to offer you as well. It's a golf community. All that I mentioned are very close to the GA line. The state line goes through Windstone. Also, I'm not sure what you mean by "larger lots". These are not "zero lot line" communities but the lots are not measured in "acres" either. Hope this helps.

One other thought, there is a 55+ community (Greenbriar Cove) but the lots may not be large enough for y'all.

Thumbs up Lupton City TENNIS

CAM: WELCOME. If you really want to see TENNIS. . You need to visit Lupton City (North Chattanooga) , Hixon pike road, Just east of the Enclave . There are about 16 PRO style courts right along the river , where many colleges have their matches.

. you can pick a neighborhood from there, BUT no place will have large lots near the city . It will be convient to get to Hwy #27 bridge , to I-24 East to I-75 South from there. Believe it is Map # 1 below ..

Thanks for the info. Any subdivision around Lupton City? Also when I am thinking of large lots, I'm thinking at least 1/2 acre, if that helps, not anything huge. I just hate when you can look out your window into your neighbor's house.

Smile Falling Waters , 1/2 ACRE

CAM: Here is a prior Search thread for a Lupton city question. . I had a picture of this very upscale Enclave (they also have there own Tennis courts , swimming pool clubhouse),, right near tennis courts.. Believe the tract of land was a prior golf course (?) //www.city-data.com/forum/chatt...pton-city.html

. Along East - West rt #153 (Hixon area) is sort of the City cut off line to pay additional City Taxes. . Chattanooga has been trying to expand (Annexization) neighborhoods for more tax base. .This may also be a question for your real estate agent search. . Really doubt anthing South of Rt #153 would offer 1/2 acre or more. IMO

.Your target (1/2 acre+) may start around the Falling Waters area , along divided Hwy #27 that runs North out of the city. Just past Red Bank where Rt #153 merges. . This section is where the base of Walden Ridge Plateau (or Siganl Mtn) comes down to the flatter valley or lake level. Hiking & waterfalls all along the gorge areas. . Many maps from the CUMBERLAND TRAIL web site. . Just north of F.W. one exit is Thrasher Pike neighborhood.

You should be fine with the 1/2 acre thing. That would most likely mark Greenbrier Cove of the list though. The Enclave in Rivermont was mentioned. The homes range from $579K - $2.1mm . And the homes in Lupton City (zip code 37351) just down the street from the Enclave range from $99K - $189K. The area surrounding Lupton City but with a different zip starts at $83K.

I may have read too much into your 1st post and was assuming you wanted to stay close to the TN GA line because of your husband's Atlanta trips.

If that is the case then anything north of Missionary Ridge and or the Lake would not work. Council Fire would be another "Golf" community with the other amenities you mentioned. One more would be Mtn Shadows. There are newer homes mixed with older homes but they do have a nice pool and tennis courts. Very pretty setting too.
