Can someone please help me find a nice park with a playground in a safe area? We are in town on vacation and all the parks we keep driving too and in not so great looking areas. I found several mentioned online but they are patroled by police and there are homeless people. Any suggestions?

There is a nice playground where the southern belle docks, just a block or so from the aquarium to the west along the river.

Default COUNTY Park CHESTER FROST

Pkc: This week with the hot weather, I would assume our County Park , named CHESTER FROST would be the # 1 hit. FREE entry , large groomed sandy beaches, swimming, NEW playground area.. Also known as the campground area out on the point. . Food / snack vendors under the big shade trees. . Near the multi boat launch . . I also noticed a volley ball court. . Search above for prior posts, I know some of my pics are there.
We had a early met & greet there once.

LOcation is just north of Rt #153 in Hixon shopping mall area, up Hixon PIKE. Turn right on GOLD Circle, at the fishing Boat dealer.. Here is one of the prior posts, with the PICTURES. //www.city-data.com/forum/chatt...ark-swims.html

I second Pumpkin Patch on Signal, it's right behind City Hall. Awesome park, really creative play equipment.

If you're in the downtown area (south side of river) go to the riverfront/Aquarium/Passage. The Aquarium buildings are the ones with triangular roofs and can't be missed. The Passage is immediately below/west of Market St. Bridge. The Aquarium and Passage have extensive splash fountains to play in, so bring extra clothes. There's a playground at the riverfront.

If north of the river, check out Coolidge Park. Large splash fountain, an antique carousel, and lots of green area.

Farther east, Heritage Park is near the intersection of Jenkins and East Brainerd Road. Go north on Jenkins for a hundred yards, take a right. Play area, Bocce courts, walking paths, off-leash dog area, creek for splashing/wading, pond for fishing.

If the park is patrolled by police, don't you think it would be safe? Homeless people are basically harmless, they are just homeless and usually remain to themselves. It would be a great learning experience to teach your children that there are people in the world that are homeless and may need help just to survive.
