Considering moving to/near Chattanooga due to hubby's job. I have 2 boys, 13 and 4. Wanting some advice about where to start looking for a house. We will probably rent before we buy. Definitely want something in a great school zone, specifically I need a great school nurse when my small child starts elementary school next year (type 1 diabetes). Would love a safe, family-oriented area. I believe his job will actually be between Chatty and Cleveland. Thanks for any input.

If you husband is commuting to Cleveland you should consider East Brainerd and Ooltewah. There are lots of neighborhoods there and the a HUGE range in prices. Also, the rental things is very tough and getting much worse. Because of Wacker, VW, and tightening up of credit there just aren't that many nice homes for rent / lease.

I'd add though, if you see a for sale sign in the yard of nice house, it never hurts to call the realtor and SEE if they might be interested in renting. Some of the for sale houses have been on the market a while. Just an idea.

Yup, peppermint is correct. That has been a wonderful thing for some folks that bought at or near the peak of the market bring money to the closing table. They get a 2-3 year lease paid by a corporate entity to stop or slow the bleeding. By then hopefully the market will come back to where they can sell.
