This is a question about my youth. About 30 years ago, I remember attending drag races for Jeeps and 4WD vehicles somewhere in the Powell's X-roads area. Anyone remember these or know if they are still around?

We used to run the ridges up on Flat Top between Dunlap and Soddy/Dayton alot but I can't think of anything going on lately besides good ol' boys and their rigs except maybe W.E.ROCK Eastern Finals - Dayton TN August 26-27 - Pirate4x4.Com Bulletin Board

There's also Trials Training Center at the base of the mtn but now it's only motorcycles I believe.

Thanks for the reply and link. I wish I could remember more about the place I was talking about. It was great fun to watch, though. You could park along side the track )if you got there early enough) and enjoy the races. A couple of lawn chairs and a cooler in the back of a pick-up was all it took to have a great night of entertainment.

Was it an uphill climb, mud bog or more of a straight track thing? I will ask around. I know there are some mud bogs over that way... We love hill climbs and have a ton of them around. Keep the lawn chairs and bug spray in the back of the truck at all times

It was a straight track drag strip. Not a quarter mile or even an eighth I don't think. It was a dirt track that was sprayed down regularly to keep the dust down and to keep everything exciting. It was especially fun when the weather had been wet for a few days prior. Thanks for checking into this.
