GANG: The other night volunteers, workers & relatives were able to get extra technical information at the city Aquarium with a behind the scenes , all access tour. From the bottom Pump room & mixing up the salt water to the very top glass greenhouse for growing plants and Turtle lab.
. Meet up with a few other active forum members for a complete tour of food prep areas & scuba divers platforms. The QUARANTINE room / lab seemed to be the favorite with all the small water tanks. Lots of small / young Jellyfish for the MAY feature event display.
.. Here are a few pics. T.D. had a new Low Light camera & may add some more reporting later .!

SPLIT thanks again to you and the Mrs. for inviting us. This was definitely great for the kids and Jenna was very technical in her response when asked what her favorite thing was, "the fishies." It must be really cool for Mrs. SPLIT to volunteer and get to hang out there so often, even if she is working.

Whoa, are you a volunteer, too? I was at the event last night, as well, and was really excited to get to check out the Quarantine Room and the breeding for the upcoming jellyfish exhibit. Unfortunately I forgot to bring my camera, so no pictures. I do plan on becoming a behind-the-scenes tour guide, though, so I may be able to get some pictures in the future (though not of the inside of the QR).

Split, thanks again to you & the Mrs for inviting us "backstage" at the aquarium. I took some video, and may post a little montage soon.

Split - Are you picking out dinner in that one picture? I think they frown on that!

Looks like a great time. At the hospital I work at, we have a salt water aquarium in our ECC waiting room, courtesy of Mote Marine Labratories. This aquarium and one other use equipment housed in a utility closet that is about 6x6. I can only imagine the amount of pumps and such to make that place work, wow!

The butterflies were part of my favorite exhibit when we visited in June.

Default General Aquarium Questions

Are the non-fish (birds, animals, reptiles) parts of the Aquarium all behind glass, too? I know in the Baltimore Aquarium the birds fly around freely in the same area where you are. I'm wondering if it's the same in Chattanooga. I looked on their website but I don't see that kind of info. Can you use a flash?

Thanks Split and Mrs Split. That was really neat. The behind the scenes stuff was amazing. I can't pin down my favorites but I do know the adults had as much fun as the kids
