I forgot to mention the Boat House. Love that place. Dude knows how to smoke some meat.

I haven't eaten at many places but I did enjoy Mellow Mushroom for pizza.

If you haven't tried Taco Roc, check it out. We liked La Altena the best for Mexican until we went to Taco Roc on recommendation, now it pales in comparison. Also, we thought the La Altena at Northgate Mall sucked a lot worse than the one on W. Main St (which is decent).

Our favorites are:
Alleia on E Main. Great italian food
Taco Mamacitas-great food and the best mojitis and margaritas
Urban Stack for great burgers
Easy Bistro & Chato Brasserie for an upscale menu
Urbanspoon for homecooked meal and awesome fresh squeezed lemonade.
Back Inn cafe for a romantic place, food ok
Rembrandt's for dessert
Public House and Bluewater Grill are great for brunch or lunch too

The thing about restaurants is that everybody has their own tastes, likes and dislikes. There are restaurants in previous posts that I detest. I've also enjoyed restaurants on one visit, then not liked the same restaurant on a subsequent visit. Food is a personal thing. The most important thing to me is cleanliness and I also check out the restaurant inspection reports in the paper each week. Low score and I won't go!
personally, I like:
Herman's Soul Food on Brainerd Road.
Plaza Del Sol (Mexican food on East Brainerd)
The Terminal Brewery
The Big Chill and Grill
Southside Saloon and Bistro
The Mellow Mushroom

Pizza is my specialty, but who can resist great tacos

I had three HS soccer kids with me, and they were all impressed. I need to get back to Chatty for some more soccer and tacos

Since posting this thread we've rediscovered Rice Boxx on Hixson Pike. It's by far the best asian food for your money that I've tried anywhere in the city. It's right by the Jet's Pizza (also amazing) near the Bi-Lo. Also, Taqueria on the south side (they also have a truck at the Chattanooga Market) is another place for very good authentic Mexican, although their portions are smaller than Taco Roc (but also fresher).
