Google Maps says the commute from Signal Mt to the UPS customer center/VW plant/etc area is about 10-15 miles and 20-25 minutes... is that pretty accurate in reality? Or are you going to run into a lot of traffic that extends your drive?

(These are the apartments we are looking at - they are actually at the base of Signal Mountain I guess? Chattanooga Apartments For Rent - Bluffview at Mountain Creek)

When I first read your post I read the "Commute from Signal Mtn". If you were on Signal Mtn I would say the commute would be no less than 45 minutes. But this complex is on Morrison Springs RD and I think 25 minutes would be a minimum in traffic. I'm guessing the route would be crossing over to Hixson from Red Rank (several traffic lights) and then getting on HWY 153 which has gotten more congested.

Traffic depends on your shift (if your position is shift work). In the morning (and late afternoon), Bonny Oaks Drive can be fairly busy as it's the main road towards North Chattanooga. I would also imagine that the road down from Signal Mountain (if you'd be up it) is busy in the morning rush. Highway 153 can be packed in the afternoon/evening (assuming that would be the time you'd drive home). I know from where I live (Hixson Pike) I'd probably account for about 15-20 minutes commute time. From the base of Signal Mtn., I'd guess 25-30 minutes, and from the top of it I'd say 30-40 minutes.

Don't forget about when the roads on Signal Mountain are closed due to ice, snow, rock slides or accidents.
