Don't know if you've gotten enough information yet. But I've have had two sons at McCallie...and we loved the atmosphere. The all boys thing is an asset. We really have been very happy with the school. Go take a look at these schools, plus there are others. This is a city full of private schools.

McCallie is a great school, but I would have to go with Baylor on that one. McCallie has an ok campus much like a small but very nice university. Besides the campus, the school resides is in the armpit of chattanooga. It is truly not the the best part of town. Baylor on the other hand has a ridiculous campus. It is Awesome. It has the feel of a private boarding school. Great acedimic and athletic programs as well as direct access to the water. The campus is in a good part of town and it is probably 10 times the size of McCallie. You really are not going to go wrong with either. Personally my favorite school in Tennessee is Brentwood Acedemy in Brentwood, TN (Nashville). These are 3 of the best schools you will find in the nation. GPS is great too, but not if you have a boy

Default McCallie

I attended Baylor for two years and then transferred to McCallie. When I was at Baylor there were drug problems in the dorm. One kid even got kicked out. They also had a coach (who was a former college football star) allegedly had a sexual relationship with a student. Baylor is a beautiful campus, but definitely an elitist air to it. The kids were stuck up, rich, and cliquish. I like McCallie a lot better. Sure there were snobby kids as well, but there was an undeniable "brotherhood" we always had each others backs plus the athletic department is awesome. Academics can't be beat at McCallie. So, if you have a son it's a no brainer send him to McCallie!
