Hi,
My husband may have a job in Chattanooga and I would love to live on a small farm/ranch. I asked a realtor if there were any small farms/ranches for sale near Chattanooga and she said we may have to go 30 minutes out of the city. Are there any towns near Chattanooga where I could buy a farm that aren't too isolated? If I can't live in Chattanooga, I would like to see if there are any nearby towns with some amenities. We don't need an active nightlife or anything like that, just enough people and stores so we don't feel too disconnected. It would also have to be within about a 30 minute drive to Chattanooga since that's where my husband will be working.
Thanks!

There are possible farm locations in every direction from Chattanooga....north, east or west. (If you go south, you'll be in GA and you don't want that). Rural property in Hamilton Co. is most likely going to be more expensive than in any of the other, outlying counties. I'd focus on something close to your husband's job location and go that direction. You can do some searches yourself using the Internet (realtor.com; trulia.com; etc.) or get with most any Chattanooga Realtor and let them know your specific requirements.

Where would your husband be working? If, for example, it was the VW plant, I would think that would eliminate anything north of Soddy-Daisy.

Question N.W. Chatt ?

M : WELCOME..It is possible in the NOrth West direction of Chattanooga, you will find your desired farm.
You do not mention amount of acreage ,so not sure how far out to send ya. Dunlap is the farming valley with lots of larger farm land / auctions, etc. In closer off the bottom of Signal mtn may be a community
POWELL Crossroads that is your cup of tea. Kind of at the end of Suck Creek road, up from the river. !
I had heard that a 15 acre tract of land may be less taxes with farm zoning , than a 8 or 9 acre parcel ?
