Sad news: The Chattanooga Market is closing after 6 years. I will miss that 8 months out of the year, there was always somewhere fun (and free) to go on Sunday. I'll miss the local produce and meeting the people who actually grew it, meeting local artists and craftsman. I am also sad that there is one fewer place that my grandparents, in their late 80's, can go dance to Big Band.

I got that e-mail this morning. I am so sad about it. We only moved here on 9/1, but we went nearly every week after church. It was just a nice place to go eat a cheap lunch, wander around looking at what there is to see, and buy things when the funds allow. What a loss this will be.

I am just wondering if anything can be done to keep it.....

Not good at all. The market was a great addition to the Nooga

That is unfortunate. Every city should have something like this.

Excellent news! I hope the non-profit organization can make it work!

I am very excited! I think this type of venture is probably better of as a nonprofit entity. I see it more as a community activity, than a profitable business...for the organizers, anyway. I hope it works, too!!

Glad you're going to get to see the market Kats. Hopefully the scare of it's possible closing was enough to get people out there to it again. It's a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon.
