Well, seems we are still not any closer in moving to ya'lls beautiful city. Our last trip was uneventful or prosperous. We did accomplish bringing back a HORRIBLE flu with us though, we're still sick almost 2 weeks later!

It seems, no one wants to rent to out of towners, since we are moving without jobs. We have prospect of jobs, after we have a Chattanooga address. Soooo, we have a major catch 22 happening. We offer to pay 3 months right up front, but that doesn't seem to help. The apartment complexs want to rent to us, without a problem, till they run our background and see my husband did something stoopid at 17 and it got reopened when he was 21. Nothing violent, not a drug charge, nothing any of our past landlords have considered bad. (And it's funny, reading peoples posts here, about the apartment complexs and crime, but they won't let us move in.)

Anyways, we didn't get to rent the house I liked on Shawnee Tr., cuz it happened to be thru a management company, who wants employment history. The owner of the house, is the one that contacted me, and then changed his mind, after we were up there last. I found a house on Signal Mtn., but now that owner stopped replying to us, cuz were out of towners.

So, now I'm looking at a house in Highland Park on Kirby and seem to get alot of mixed reviews from here. I want an old house with charm, hubby said an "iffy" neighborhood is fine, if he has a garage to park his truck in, LOL.

We want to move so bad and start our new life, I'm starting to go crazy I think. We don't have much time left, thinking we HAVE to find a place by mid-March. We don't want to come up there again and waste another $500-$600 for nothing either.

How did ya'll do it, when you moved there? I know alot of your on these boards are transplants to the area, hoping you have advice.

Thank you!
Viki

Default Church Parish,? All reference !

G.V.: Where there is a will, there is a way ! Ourselves and a few other South Fla family's had a certain Church Parish that they visited and connected with a welcome committee or activity. Someone else gave a referral to a Real Estate agent that believed the visitor was sincere and go from there to relocate, or find a desired neighborhood.
2) We still do have strange news stories every week, where a person , (Even day care babysitters) were running a Meth Lab chemical , drug build room in a spare bedroom, so yes background checks across America will be a given. , Also strange , last month our Sheriff, 32 year dept cop, was Busted by FBI on drug and Money traffic Charges.!! .Last year also state & city politicans, so a out of stater is even higher profile.

Thank you Split, but I was keeping the "finding a church" dilemma, till after the move. We haven't been active in a church here, my husband and I don't agree to much on that front. But, I want to find something for our 9 y/o son to be a part of.

And ya, your sheriff, was a shock, but than again, they aren't all good!

hey giz!

I empathize with you and the situation...if you've read about our adventures here you'll know that I did have to come up a 2nd time after the apartment plans fell apart. That said, we were glad of the final result. I had about 8 places lined up to look at when I flew up here last August (we had to be out of our So FL house at the end of the month) so the pressure was definitely on. By the way, struck out on all those places too (*DM me if you want to hear more*)

With the circumstances you listed it may be best to stick with private owner rentals, and stay away from the managed apartment complexes and properties under management. Keep looking--don't give up--and something will turn up. It's just a matter of time.

Thanx Tridad! We've been up there twice now, considering coming again next weekend, but we have nothing to look at as of now. The one in Highland Park got rented today, so that one got checked off list. Newspaper up there is full of those Rental Americas people, which I read horrible reviews about, they scare me. We're kicing ourselves now, we should have just taken the duplex in East Brainerd when we were there last, even though it was a little more than we wanted to pay.

And yes, interested in hearing your story, if you're up to typing it, lol.

Viki

Ah Giz, I hate to hear that it's been so rough for you guys. There has got to be something around here as the market is SO saturated. Maybe Tridad can give you those tips you need. He and his family were having ALOT of fun trying to get here too

Yes Russell, thank you, we are interested. It's my husband (32), myself(34), our 9 y/o son and 2 spayed, indoor cats. We have a 15 y/o daughter also, but she wants to stay with grandma in Florida (long story), so she'll only visit occasionally. We had been looking in Fort Oglethorpe/Ringgold/Rossville, because it was so close to Chattanooga and I like how they do college scholarships in Georgia. We are considering driving up there again this weekend, because my husband will be out of town on business, the 2 following weekends. I am PMing you my email. Thank you! Viki

jkmewright~I have been there and put in my own ad, lol.

Thanx all!
