I think you could easily find a perfect match for you at the front of Signal Mountain. In the actual town of Signal Mountain. Do not be intimidated by the word mountain. Or the thought of curvy icy roads. Things are well salted. It is a short 10-15 minute commute to downtown Chattanooga.
Something in your price range IS possible.
And trees.... I will say that spring and fall are the most delicious times of year, they make the everyday chores and agendas of the day refreshing.
Do some you tube or image searches maybe.

Just don't rule it out too quickly.

I did a Zillow search in our price range for Signal Mountain and only found 2 compatible homes for us while I found 16 in Red bank and 9 in St. Elmo. I wont rule it out completely as I agree greenery wise the community is gorgeous

Avoid the predominantly black areas in Chattanooga and you should be ok.

Hixson and the surrounding communities of Lakesite and Middle Valley are great.

Where exactly are the bad neighborhoods? I don't want any regrets so I wanna make sure we make the right decision

Hello,
I realize this thread is old, but the discussion is relevant to me, currently.
Can someone provide a few more details regarding the "bad areas" near downtown (as referenced above)? St. Elmo looks charming, but I'm concerned about crime. Is it safe to assume that anything north of downtown is fairly safe/crimes at a minimum? Thank you in advance!
