How is the job situation in Chattanooga? I'm leaving Michigan because of the depressed economy and increasingly radical left wing politics. I'm a single father with a 10 year old daughter. I used to make $26.00 as a Maintenance Administrator (that is not a janitor, I was a customer service repair rep) before the phone company laid off 11,000 of us. Now I supervise 45 employees in a call center and I make $8.00 an hour and pay $600.00 a month for a one bedroom apartment. I don't expect to make $26.00 an hour but $12.00 an hour would go a long way towards providing a better life for my daughter if the rent on a two bedroom aprtment is affordable, if decent schools are available and the crime rate is low. Do you think Chattanooga meets my criteria? Also... since Tennessee has no State income tax, how do they make up for it? What other taxes and "fees" do they soak you with?

I saw your post and it was informative. I am interested in hearing form others with knowledge of Chattanooga as well. One thing about Tennessee that I can't understand is the tax on food. In Michigan nothing that can be consumed with the exception of alcohol and over the counter medications can be taxed.

was that verizon? they have a big call center with service reps and MA's
near middleboro MA. maybe they would let you transfer.I heard Soddy Daisy was nice, but not so sure about the job situation. Somebody posted here about new town homes for rent in Soddy for 650.00 do a search. TN has a high sales tax 9 per cent.
