Hello,
I am new to this thread and post, I am thrilled to find it! I have been looking into moving to chattanooga area. I am looking to find an older home, with character.... I love historic districts and the arts. I am a single mom, so area is important as far as neighborhood and safety. Currently we live in an active neighborhood where we can bike to the store or beach or parks and bike paths, this has been a great change from the farm. But Im missing the hills and seasons. A middle ground seems to be chattanooga or the outer little towns. I did see a house in cherokee woods? sounds interesting but I am unsure about the distance to the river park and how safe is the area? Do you have any better areas I should focus on? Any suggestions would be greatly appricated ! I am designer and love to refresh sometimes remodel older properties...I really am looking for something that needs some attention but not major repairs.

Smile Welcome

S.S.M: WELCOME to the clubhouse. Sounds like you are a little south of Chatt with flatter land. Anyhow the NOrth shore of the city may be a start for your piece of bicycle paradise. Arts district near the Hunter museum.
. I met a nice lady that has the same Interior Design / remodel co. I have her business card if you wish to forward by Direct Message. ( The upper right hand of screen , private E- mail box).
. The city has lots of offer for social activities.

Eh, hate to burst your bubble but unless you are sending your child to private school or one of our magnet schools, Cherokee Woods is not the place for you if you are concerned about schools. Maybe try Red Bank zip 37415. Some cute older bungalows, nearby stores and hospital, decent schools and close to the action on the river front. Also East Ridge 37412. These areas will have some pretty nice homes that are affordable with nice neighborhoods for families.

For a biking, walking, playing neighborhood, North Chattanooga/North Shore is your best bet but the prices are high right now and possibly not going to get any cheaper. That area is HOT. Looking on the bright side, I can tell you that wherever you decide to move, you are pretty much 15 minutes from some kinda fun

Default Thank you, thank you thank you

I have read the posts and I thank you all for such great info! I will be visiting soon to the area. More like last week in september.

To update the questions... I was looking at a house on bryd ave...in the 37406 zip, yes.. because of size and condition for price. But, I homeschool, so the school district isnt my big issue. I do like the area of arts and biking more so, I will search those areas listed as well. Otherwise I may move to the outskirts and just enjoy the view... As you can tell I always have a plan b.

I am going to go surfing with the new info you all have suggested and see what comes up. Talk to yall soon.
