I could have written this post! We are also relocating to the area, hoping to homeschool, not for religious purposes, and our top 2 picks are signal or e. brainerd... also wanting to rent because we can't sell our house in this market...

Looking forward to reading more responses!

Cool finally made it up there

Well, I made the trip up with husband and a few kids last week. Yes, I fell in love. It is in every sense of the word, charming. It was foggy and rainy the entire time, so no panoramic views for me, but I got the idea. Ooltewah is good, but a little to far from downtown area- that was nice! I liked Riverside, and the part right across the river, is it northshore? we went over the bridge with the blue on it, turned right on a road that becomes hixon pike- and right there to about fifteen minutes north of there was exactly my kind of place. Don't know what the area is called, though. romega75, I did the 'befriend' request..

Glad you liked our city! The bridge you crossed is the Market Street Bridge (recently remodeled and pedestrian-ized) and, yes, the north side of the river is North Shore.

glad you enjoyed the visit. Once over the Market St Bridge you turned right on Frazier Avenue which curved to the left and took you down Hixson Pike. If you went 15 minutes or so you probably drove on the "S Curves" and in a neighborhood called Stuart Heights. I loved this area the first time driving through it. My commute to work everyday takes me through this area everyday
