We will possibly be moving to Chattanooga in the fall. We are unfamiliar with the area and was wondering what areas we should be looking at for a home. We would be renting for at least the first year, wanting to to pay no more than $1300 for at least a 3 bd, 2 bath house. Hubby would be working for the federal gov't with Immigration and Customs enforcement but not to sure where that office is. We don't have to live in close proximity to his job. Any info to help me narrow down my search would be appreciated.

Family and I are moving down latter part of July. Do you have children? If so, how old? Do you want public or private school? Ooltewah, Hixson or Soddy Daisy are good.

Hixson IMO is way too overcrowded. At least the area north of the dam on 153 anyway. Ooltewah is nice, and growing rapidly. Also check out East Brainerd and Apison.

Yes, we have 3 boys, a sophmore, a 6th grader and a 3rd grader. We would want public schools. Thanks for the info I will do my search in those areas.

Tridad, are your eyes closed? Hixson is horribly overcrowded and the roads can't accomodate the vehicles using them. I know you think it's heaven over there, but believe me, it's congested compared to Chattanooga.

Have you ever been anywhere south of the river...Hamilton Place, E. Brainerd? Hixson, Soddy Daisy, etc is a cake walk traffic wise compared to E. Brainerd.

I respectfully disagree and just had two friends sell their lakefront property in Soddy Daisy to move right next to Hamilton Place mall and they love it. Much less traffic.
