Most. Of the problems are because the gear shifter. Has a solenoid. Attached to it that moves every time you out in gear. The wiring harness is too short. It eventually. Pulls the wires out of the connection. Four wires. Black yellow. Purple. Green. When the car was produced. The harness should had been two inches longer. Way to go GM. How about a recall !!

I have 08 impala. My key was stuck in the acc position. Could not remove keys for a few days. Had to disconnect battery after each time if driving. Like I mentioned in an earlier post the wiring harness. On the shifter came disconnected. Which in turn stopped the voltage the the key solenoid. From releasing. The key. It's an easy fix. If your. Project. Oriented. The dealer will charge you a car payment plus to fix. They are videos on you tube. For repair. Good luck. Thanks GM

The tumblers in the lock cylinder are worn out, time to replace the assemble.
