Ok, clarify this for me.
When you turn key to Off, do the lights and everything else turns OFF but engine keeps running? Or, the lights and everything still stays ON, engine runs, THEN lights go off and engine turns off?

ill stop after a wile when the lights and other accesories turn off.

This can be understood either way.

Does the engine "diesel"? After you turn key to Off, does it start sounding sort of like a diesel, and then RPMs slowly goes down and then it shuts down?
Either way, my 1st guess is your ignition lock is bad. If it diesels, you have a lot of carbon build up in combustion chgambers and it gets real hot and keeps igniting leftover fuel mix. Seen that.

Those years of GM had ignition switch problems and recalls. Will it shut off if you wiggle the switch?
