I have a 2009 HHR and will be moving in a few weeks. Everything I need will not fit in the car so I was thinking of towing a UHaul trailer. They have something small, I think 4x6 which is fine. It won't be furniture, just boxes with household items and clothes. So it won't be too heavy.

I never hitched anything before and heard this type of car is not made for towing and can mess up the transmission? When I go to the UHaul site, they have drop down boxes to select car and HHR is listed but I'm guessing they will not be responsible if car problems as a result of towing.

Does anyone know if this would be ok and if it is not, then suggestions for other options? I have to take my car and can't afford to ship so somehow items need to be in, on the car or towed.
Thank you.

Oops...and if anyone can suggest another company to compare prices?
