Vehicle lights come on automatically when the vehicle is started. The battery was weak and though it would not start the vehicle all lights worked. Once the battery was replaced now no headlights. There is a dome switch and there is some reset trick that can be done with the dome switch. It's used to turn these automatic lights off, and the reverse can turn them on again.

Anyone aware of this?
No bulbs or fuses are bad as far as we can tell.

What in the car's system would have tripped or been interrupted when the battery was disconnected?
We have had the battery (the old one) disconnected numerous times while doing other work and no issues that were not solved.

Is it just the headlights that won't come on? Or is it all of the lights? In my Volvo the headlights and all other exterior lights are always on when the car is running - unless I turn the headlight switch to the parking light only position. Then everything but the headlights stay on. No idea if your vehicle is wired the same, but check the headlight switch. Maybe it's something a simple as that.

Before the new battery all lights front and rear worked except the left rear tail light. This was suspected of being the ground to that light and I was going to run a new ground wire from that light to under the rear chassis. Easy fix.

Then the new battery and now no lights come on except the brake lights and front and rear turn signals.
This vehicle has a 3 way dome light switch and I'll post the image. There is a mechanic's trick using the dome switch. You press it X number of times to turn the automatic lights off. The reverse should turn them back on. We solved the headlight issue a few months ago with the same dome light series of presses but we did not take note of the sequence.

The 9 o'clock position is the automatic lights from a sensor in the window. The other positions at 10:30 and 12 straight up get mixed results. The lights do not come on at the 10:30 position but do at the upright position. But, on both of those alternative positions the light on the clock goes dim. You can see the time buy clearly the volts or amps to it are reduced. It's not as bright. And the light illuminating the cassette player comes on too.

Every light but one worked Tuesday on the old battery. New battery all lights are off except brake and turn signals. So, with those lights we can at least drive during the day since we have brake and turn lights. Cops won't stop us for any other lights until dark.

There is some trick by pressing the button lower left in the photo and it resets the headlights. We spent many hours with volt meters and ohm meters months ago and when the dome over ride trick was used, like magic all lights worked. At that time all lights worked except one head light. We tried everything from grounds to relays and no luck until the dome over ride trick.

I'm not familiar with the dome light trick, but googling for it the number of times pushed seems to be 4 - found on this website. They're referring to a chevy pickup. I think you'd also get more responses asking this question on the general automotive forum page. You can start a new post there or ask a moderator to move this thread. Either way, good luck!

It seems the dome light button reset occurs on a new key cycle. The bad weather prevented further testing. When the rain finally stopped and the vehicle started after dark, all lights but one works. That one is not the bulb but may be the socket or ground.
