I like the way they look and Hertz has some used ones for under $10k. I bought a ex-rental Focus back in 2004 with 30k miles and still have it today with 210k miles.

If you like small POS cars, then sure.

Had one as a rental for about 10 minutes before deciding within 2 miles that it handled like crap, was cramped, loud and void of any comfort whatsoever.

If you live in a huge urban environment (NYC, Chicago, LA) etc, where parking is a premium, go for it. Otherwise, no.

One of our friends bought one about two years ago. He and his girlfriend were hit by a woman high on herion. His girlfriend died at the scene and he died the next day. Both were WWII veterans.

If he had been driving his Buick, they might have survived.

No one thought either of them would go out that way.

It's an Aveo, which is essentially a rebadged Korean Daewoo. Daewoo were some of the absolute worst cars ever brought to the U.S. when they came in the early 2000's.

Perhaps they've improved, I wouldn't buy one though.

That is how it always go.

Worked with a nice lady that was an amazing Christian and used to have lunch with her at work. She was awesome! Super nice, loving, and caring about other. Then one day while driving home she got rear ended when she was sitting in her lane waiting to turn into her driveway. She was pushed into the oncoming lane in front of a semi.

Still bother me to this day, its been 4 years now, and had talked with her the day before.

Edit: Never driven one, but know they have the same engines in the Cruze's, which are fantastic engines, but under powered in the heavy Cruze.

Also, others have mentioned unsafe, but people shouldn't live in fear, and if it is your time to go, then you know. . .

Correct, they are US made, but they're designed and engineered by GM Korea (aka Daewoo).
