Hello, my 2005 Silverado once and awhile the transfer case switch when I start the truck will flash and either light up neutral in red or 4 low in amber. It doesn't feel like it is in 4 low at the time but drives as if it is in 2wd. It is sluggish when driving then and a mess to drive as you need to floor it to go like 30 up a hill maybe...I am guessing computer mapping when it thinks it's in 4low.

Strange thing is it maybe does this once every few months and sometimes I can't get it back to regular 2wd. It had shown intermittently before this service 4wd. Which I have had to replace the transfer case switch at least twice (owned since new).

From reading online it maybe the transfer case motor or actuator. Any ideas or suggestions...This has shaken my confidence a little in the truck otherwise it is great. It has 110,000 miles and water pump was replaced around 85,000 I believe. Some brake lines were also replaces as developing a hole and loosing breaks is evidently an issue with Silverados. I may still need to get the other lines replaced...Sorry for rambling. Any suggestions would be awesome.

I think this is a common issue. My 04 did the same thing, I traded it before fixing it. I'm sure someone will chime in with advice.

REPLACE SWITCH. I had to do it on my Silvie at 50 000 miles. It's $50 online and about 10 minutes job if you have good hands.
