Doing a quick search on cars.com, I found three other ones for less money with lower miles - same trim level and in your area (based on the zipcode of the Carmax place). I'd do more shopping.

Friends 2012 wipers won’t work, wiper transmission failed, very common problem. Cat already failed. Look at a Hyundai Santa Fe instead. I test drove new 2017’s of both, Santa Fe was much better for same price, wife bought it.

2013-2015 Santa Fe's are having engine failures just like the Sonata (same engine). 2010-2011 Equinox and Terrain also had oil consumption issues (zebra stripped piston rings). My mother in law has a 2010 Equinox and had to have the engine replaced at 130k miles.

All good points. I'd buy a CRV or RAV4 in that segment myself...

I almost forgot, same friend’s 2012 Equinox just had its engine replaced at her cost at 110k. At least the Hyundai will be replaced for free. (Wife had a 2012 Sonata that tested and didn't need replacing)

The Santa Fe engine failure problem is in 2013-2014 models. Supposedly this manufacturing defect was corrected starting with the 2015s.

I have a 2015 Equinox and love everything about it. I purchased it new and have around 23k miles on it. I wouldn't hesitate to purchase another one should there ever be a need.
When I shop for a vehicle, I never look farther than the nearest Chevrolet dealer. All those foreign vehicles mentioned above will never see my driveway..
Until my retirement, I spent over 40 years as an ASE Mater Tech, I know vehicles....

OP here , thank you for all the opinions. I do currently have a 2008 Rav4 with 169,000 miles on it , original transmission and engine and wanted to trade before another repair comes up or she blows LOL.

While looking, check into GM's Certified Pre-Owned Program. It not only extends the original Bumper to Bumper and Power-train warranty, they also throw in a couple of scheduled maintenance services. With the right vehicle year and right purchase timing, the CPO warranty can be longer than the original manufactures warranties.
