The cylinder deactivation is the root cause of virtually all of the lifter failures in the GM 5.3 engine from 2007-2011. The long term fix is to replace all lifters with updated units & tune the cylinder deactivation out of the computer.

I can't imagine that the stabilitrak issue has anything to do with that, but who knows?
