Hopefully.

It's kind of funny because what Equinox means to anyone who has owned one is it's crappy but very good space and value as long as you're not looking for anything else. The current one apparently is actually decent, or at least improved. Ultium would bring a lot of advantages beyond price... like not taking an hour to trickle DC charge at 50 kw. If it is also 40% cheaper to make the battery it's a no brainer to kill the Bolt. Hopefully they will bring it back for another Ultium based generation though as not everyone wants something the size of the Equinox, and the Equinox EV is even bigger than the gas one, pretty substantially like 7" longer and 3.5" wider.

Whatever you do please increase the DC charging speed.

Yea, I think that'll be inevitable since it'll be on the Ultium platform and the Equinox supposedly charges at up to 150 kW. If it's a similar form factor to the current Bolt but incorporating various battery improvements including better energy density by weight, then that kind of charge rate would go a long way since the vehicle would likely be very efficient.

I can't see charging speeds not improving significantly. GM is estimating 70 miles of range on Equinox in 10 minutes versus the Bolt the "100 miles in 30 minutes" is pretty hopelessly optimistic. I'd expect at least twice as fast for the typical charger hop up to 60-80% if they do a next gen Bolt.

Default The Chevy Bolt is returning on the Ultium platform

According to CEO Mary Barra, the Bolt will be back:

“Our customers love today's Bolt. It has been delivering record sales and some of the highest customer satisfaction and loyalty scores in the industry," said Barra. "It's also an important source of conquest sales for the company and for Chevrolet. We will keep the momentum going by delivering a new Bolt… and we will execute it more quickly compared to an all-new program with significantly lower engineering expense and capital investment by updating the vehicle with Ultium and Ultifi technologies and by applying our 'winning with simplicity' discipline," Barra said.
