Are you leaning toward a specific C6 model yet? With a budget of $50k, all three start coming into play (coupe, vert, Z06).

As others have mentioned, holding out a few months can potentially save you thousands of dollars. Sports car sales start to stall out when the snow flies, and prices come down.

Not a Z06, even a used C6 Z06 will run you around $55K-$60K.

I love to watch and listen to Vettes, but I prefer my Stanwood-built Dodge diesel sleeper 1/2 ton. Haven't been burned by a street-legal vette yet. 9.90 1/4 mi.

My bud's Vette is fast for just a 350! He and I puch it on I-5 late on Friday nights.

Yeah, I'm noticing that. Was looking at some Z06's and they were all upper 50's.

I will definitely hold out a couple months.... I want to do plenty of research before dropping that amount of cash in any event. I might actually pay the extra and get a Z06...or wait until they come down a bit more....or just scrap that plan and get something older in the 30k range.

Appreciate all the links and advice.

They're starting to hit $50k now and I can assure you that they'll be there when the snow flies. Just have to look around a bit.

If you're just going to cruise and have some fun and stab at the throttle now and then for a big boost of acceleration, a standard C6 will be more than adequate for the task. The ZO6 is not particularly well-suited for cruising unless you want a backache every time you run over a pebble. I wouldn't spend an extra $20K for a ZO6 unless I planned to track it, autocross it, or maybe drag-strip it.

Cool, thats kinda what I'm eyeballing the hardest right now.
I would think with the economy slowing that has to be crimping sales and inventories need to get moved.

Still ton of research to do...but 50k for a Z06 around Christmas seems like a tentative plan.

Yeah, I need to do some test drives to see the difference for myself. Excellen suggestion.

For comfort, the base model is the softest. The Z51 option is much stiffer.

The week after Christmas is my favorite time to buy things. Particularly expensive toys...

Bummer that you are in Kansas, not that many interesting roads. I have always been more of a mountain-road kind of guy.

By all means try to drive as many different cars as possible. Talk to current owners. Most are quite happy to share their knowledge.
